The St. Louis Tie
$68.00
The Louis Tie is navy blue as a sign that he and his wife, St. Zelie, entrusted all their children to the care of Our Blessed Mother. Their youngest daughter, St. Therese, would go on to become a Saint and a Doctor of the Church.
The tie is decorated with a watch chain, watch face, and piece of lace as a sign of their complementarity: the sturdy watch and soft lace.
The watch is drawn to be a bit blurry, reflecting upon St. Louis' living until an old age and the beautiful struggle of growing frail with time.
The watch is set to half past 9 to symbolize their 9 children, 4 of whom and St. Zelie passed away long before the rest of their family, which made their whole family was halfway to eternity through St. Therese's life.
The diagonal chains are also reminiscent of him first meeting St. Zelie at Saint Leonard's Bridge in Alencon, France.
Because Louis worked with watches, he must have pondered the essence of time and life, how nothing can be taken for granted. We hope that this tie can be a reminder of the holiness of an ordinary, human family rooted in Christ.
